12.10.2025

Picture
The National Tour Cast of "Spamalot" (Matthew Murphy and Evan Zimmerman)
"Monty Python’s Spamalot is currently delighting audiences at The Bushnell in Hartford through Sunday, December 14...Following the adventures of King Arthur as he seeks out knights for his round table, and their ensuing quest to find the Holy Grail, the musical features all your favorite moments from the movie–from the carnivorous rabbit, to the French taunters, to the Knights of Ni. Songs such as “I Am Not Dead Yet,” “The Song That Goes Like This,” “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life,” and “You Won’t Succeed on Broadway” pack the show with memorable and hilarious tunes that you’ll be humming long after the curtain goes down..."

Review: Revolutionary Musical Hamilton Returns to Hartford's Bushnell

Nathan Haydel, Tyler Fauntleroy, Jared Howelton, Elvie Ellis, and the company of the Hamilton National Tour - (c) Joan Marcus 2024
"..Even after more than a decade, Hamilton is still a powerful production that boasts strong performances, clever staging and choreography, and dynamic storytelling–all wrapped up in the musical artistry of Miranda’s writing and compositions. The current touring company brings their own takes to the roles, while still retaining the integrity of the original performances that many audience members may expect after listening to the cast album or watching the recorded production on Disney+..."

Review: Hilarious New Musical Hatching at Goodspeed's Terris Theatre
10.22.2025

Picture
Claire Saunders, Jeremy Davis, and Ethan Peterson in "The Great Emu War" at Goodspeed’s Terris Theatre, 2025 (Diane Sobolewski)
"The latest new musical making a splash at Goodspeed’s Terris Theatre through October 26 is a hilarious comedy titled The Great Emu War–a new emusical comedy. It’s about–you guessed it–the Great Emu War, an “unbelievable but true event from Australian history where the Australian Federal Government sent the army with machine guns to go to war with emus,” according to the Writers’ Notes included in the playbill. Advertised as “Cats, but with emus,” I would argue that it is infinitely more amusing (emusing?) than the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic, as it is 90 minutes (no intermission) of puns, dancing emus, and hilarious hijinks. It’s a delightful new addition to the musical comedy genre that will have you laughing–and singing the titular song–long after the finale..."
