Review: RAGTIME SOARS AT GOODSPEED IN TIMELY PRODUCTION
5.15.2025

Picture
The company of "Ragtime" at Goodspeed Musicals, 2025 (Diane Sobolewski)
"Ragtime, currently playing at Goodspeed Musicals through June 15, is an absolute triumph. If the thunderous standing ovation at the conclusion of the performance is any indication, Goodspeed has a hit on their hands... Across the board, Ragtime is an impressive rendition of a powerful story that makes a particularly strong impact in today’s current climate. Featuring iconic songs such as “Wheels of a Dream” and “Make Them Hear You,” it’s a show that you won’t soon forget..."

Review: Sister Act Takes audiences to church Through May 18 at Seven Angels Theatre
5.3.2025

Picture
Semina DeLaurentis (Mother Superior) and the company of "Sister Act" at Seven Angels Theatre, 2025 (Paul Roth)
"Sister Act, currently playing at Seven Angels Theatre through May 18, is a toe-tapping, soulful musical that stands out as one of the theatre’s best productions in recent memory... Though the production suffers from sound issues, which are not uncommon at this theatre, I was impressed with the overall show. The lighting in particular was strong, as was the talent of their leading lady. The direction is dynamic and clever, and the choreography fills the stage with fun and energetic numbers that clearly delighted the audience at the matinee I attended..."

Review: SOME LIKE IT HOT DAZZLES AUDIENCES AT THE BUSHNELL THROUGH MAY 4
5.1.2025

Picture
Matt Loehr (Joe), Leandra Ellis-Gaston (Sugar), Tavis Kordell (Jerry), and the First National Touring Company of "Some Like It Hot" (Matthew Murphy)
"The national tour of Some Like It Hot, currently playing at Hartford’s Bushnell Performing Arts Center through May 4, is a vibrant, dazzling production that will have you tapping your feet and dancing along in your seat from start to finish... It’s an incredibly dynamic show, with the action practically never stopping. Some of the best moments include the intricate choreography, particularly the precisely timed tap-dancing chase sequence at the culmination of the show..."

Review: Hartford Stage's Romeo and Juliet Celebrates and Mourns the Beauty and Tragedy of Life and Death
4.25.2025

Picture
Carmen Berkeley and Niall Cunningham in "Romeo and Juliet" at Hartford Stage, April 2025 (T. Charles Erickson)
"Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, currently playing at Hartford Stage through May 18, is a beautiful production that not only boasts a strong cast, but is set within an absolutely stunning directorial and design concept... From set to costumes to lighting, the design work is a true highlight for this production, and when fused with the dynamic direction, chaotic sword fights, and vibrant character work, it’s a truly remarkable show that celebrates, honors, questions, and mourns both the beauty and tragedy of life and death..."
